When you visit our dentist for a checkup, they might recommend that you have a restoration of your teeth. There are various types of restoration and only one of them, others include, the filling, the inlay, the crown and the implant.
To understand the only restoration, let us first have an overview of other types of restoration, and we begin by looking at the filling. When there is tooth decay, our dentists begin by drilling the decayed part of the tooth out and then replacing it with filling material.
Procedure for Dental Onlay
To fit and place an onlay, our dentist only follows two dental appointments. The first involves our dentists numbing a portion of our patient's mouth with a local anesthetic; after numbing, they will remove the decayed portion to prepare the patient's tooth for the onlay. An impression is taken to send to the laboratory for the creation of the permanent restoration. Finally, we will protect the patient's tooth with a temporary inlay until the next appointment.
The second is scheduled after the onlay is fabricated. Our dentist will remove the temporary inlay, clean the tooth, place the restoration and ensure its fitting. Whenever the only becomes dislodged or damaged, feel free to visit us for correction. Our patients are also encouraged to brush their teeth twice a day for at least two minutes.
Effect of Onlay
Our dentists highly recommend that our patients who have broken teeth visit us for an only procedure so that the broken teeth can be repaired. Onlay also applies to patients with tooth dislocation. Onlays are made from durable materials that look like natural teeth, and the fit is more secure than a filling.
For these reasons we recommend patients with decayed or broken teeth to feel free to visit our office or call us for an onlay procedure, and this will restore their smile, and they shall feel comfortable, the problems shall be solved by an only procedure, which is very cheap, once and for all!
