Why Brushing Your Tongue Is Important

Posted on 7/4/2022 by Dr. Jae Seon Kim
Why Brushing Your Tongue Is ImportantBacteria are able to thrive on the tongue because the surface of the mouth offers favorable conditions for reproduction. Germs may be found on the tongue, and one of the things that contribute to having foul breath is the presence of these bacteria.

If you brush your teeth but neglect to brush your tongue when you clean your mouth with a toothbrush, then you are only getting rid of half of the bacteria on your tongue and in your mouth. Brushing your tongue will help you get rid of more germs.

Brushing your tongue may reduce your risk of developing oral health issues such as tooth decay and periodontal disease, which can occur in the oral cavity. Facilitates an improvement in your breathing: The condition known as halitosis, sometimes known as foul breath, may be brought on by the presence of bacteria on the tongue. Regularly brushing your tongue may eliminate the potentially hazardous germs found there.

Not Brushing Your Tongue Can Cause Your Teeth Problems

If you do not provide extra attention to cleaning your tongue, pathogens and microbes will continue to live in your papillae and spread throughout your mouth if you do not do this step. The presence of these microbes may then result in dental caries, gingivitis, and unpleasant breath.
